For those who do not know, I have been asked and have graciously accepted the position of Service Coordinator for TTUMC.  I am very excited to be a part of TTUMC and look forward to serving in this capacity.

A good friend help me pick the name for this BLOG.  When she first suggested it, I must say I was a little skeptical.  However, the more I thought about it, the more I liked it.  We encounter the words, “Terms of Service” many times in our everyday lives, and depending on what the circumstances, it can have many meanings.  Let me, therefore, state what I think it means to a Christian.  When we join a church, we take a pledge to serve the church with our time, our tithes and our service.  That service can be as dirfferent as there are people in the church.  Some serve as worship leaders, choir members, youth directors, Sunday School teachers, etc.  But not all are called to work inside the church.  Many are called to work in the community.

That is where I come in.  As the Service Coordinator, I will be supportive in assisting you in putting your passion into action.  For example, one member of the Church has a passion for ‘Gleaning’.  Therefore, I have started gathering points of contacts in the community who are active in Gleaning during harvest season.  If this is a passion of yours or you are interested in participating in Gleaning, let me know and I will ensure you are contacted whenever we have an opportunity to participate in this very worthwhile activity within our community.  Likewise, if you have other passions, please let me know so I can add you to my ever growing list of service acitivities the church can or would like to take on.  Our community has countless opportunities to serve and, as Christians, it is our obligation (remember your membership pledege) to do whatever we can to serve our God, and our Church.  By serving our community we are serving both God and the Church because we are showing, through our actions, what being a Christian really means.

I am looking for both activities the Church can take on, as well as people who are willing to lead the activity.  Activities can be both long term commitments or just simply one time events.  Our community has many opportunities for us to serve and sometimes, people merely need to know how to get involved.  That, too, is where I come in. If you want to lead an activity and you don’t know how or who to contact, I will help you find the answer to your questions.  I will also assist in spreading the word to the Church to assist in getting the activity advertised within the Church so people will have the opportunity to participate.

So, let me know your thoughts, suggestions, passions and desires.
